The project "Fahr Rad! Reconquering the City" by the German Architecture Museum will be exhibited in the museum of the "Robbe & Berking Yachting Heritage Centre" from 12 June 2021 to 22 September 2021. Around this exhibition, various actions will take place city-wide under the title "Flensburg Bicycle Summer 2021", covering the topics of "cycling" and "bicycle-friendly urban development".
With a range of activities, the Flensburg Bicycle Summer sets an impetus for green infrastructure, architecture, and urban development, in order to promote the bicycle as an equal player in road traffic and urban space. The aim is also to encourage greater integration of cycling into everyday life. The exhibition does this in a very practical way, using examples from cities such as New York, Copenhagen or Münster. Within the framework of the exhibition and the Flensburg Bicycle Summer, leading projects for cycling are presented, that promote mutual understanding and cooperation between all participants in road traffic and provide impulses for traffic planners. A large number of cooperation partners are involved in the design of the Bicycle Summer, such as ADFC, VCD, the church, schools and many more.
As part of programme, guests can look forward to, for example, a bicycle service, expert lectures on the premises of the Robbe&Berking, flash mobs, a bicycle flea market and much more. True to a German motto, Sunday cycling tours on various topics will also be offered.
