The exhibition tells the story of almost 1,000 years of customs and border history, from plough tax to ox tolls along the Hærvejen. Visitors can use their mobile phones to ‘call’ former customs officers and gendarmes and hear exciting stories. Children can make their own passports in the customs office, dress up and help the gendarmes fight smugglers and soldiers. A ride in the ‘Spritboot’ conveys the era of strict border rules and awakens nostalgic memories. At the historic Oldemorstoft farm with its coffee shop and picnic areas, guests can enjoy the view of the Danish-German border.
