Harrislee

Beach life and active holiday at the Gateway to Scandinavia!

Harrislee is the perfect starting point for  cycling trips and hikes by the Flensburg Firth. This is where the Ox Road, Gendarme Path, Border Route, Fördesteig – and many more trails meet. Take in the picturesque scenery along the Danish border, enjoy the panoramic views of the firth and discover the region’s cultural gems.

Be sure not to miss copper mill industrial museum. Marvel at the wonderful workers’ quarters, which are now protected landmarks, and do not miss the exciting guided tour through the museum. A number of exhibits tell the 400-year story of the factory and settlement.

After visiting the museum, take a dip and relax at the most family-friendly beach in the firth region at „Wassersleben“ where you can also enjoy stunning views. This tourist-tax-free beach is patrolled by seasonal lifeguards and offers free parking, a beach volleyball court, beach football goals and, of course, a playground.

Harrislee is a shopping Mecca for Danish guests. The area’s many border shops offer typical Scandinavian products – from pickled herring and various types of licorice to authentic Danish hot dogs. Here you can shop in true Scandinavian style. Visitors can take a pleasant stroll through the Harrislee town square and enjoy the several shops, restaurants and cafés.
