Nature reserve
The Stiftungsland Schäferhaus is a 292-hectare nature reserve and a former military training facility to the west of Flensburg. The grounds have belonged to the Stiftung Naturschutz Schleswig-Holstein since the mid-’90s and are now a nature reserve. Visitors and hikers have the opportunity to learn all about nature at various stations throughout Stiftungsland as well as take in the view of the grounds from two outlook points. Stiftungsland is home to 100 Galloway cattle as well as several koniks and Polish wild horses.
