Gendarme Path

A panoramic route along the Flensburg Firth
The Gendarme Path, connecting the Danish cities of Padborg and Høruphav, is one of Denmark’s most beautiful hiking trails. Stretching 74 kilometres, most of the trail can also be discovered by bicycle. This former gendarme patrol road along the Flensburg Firth is accompanied by stunning landscapes, gentle undulations and white sandy beaches. A tip for refreshment along the way: Annies Kiosk, in Sønderhav, across from the Ox Isles, offers delicious ice cream and the legendary Danish hot dogs, not to mention a stunning view of the Flensburg Firth.

One of the most popular sections of the Gendarme Path is a coastal footpath between the golf course in Stranderød and Sandager, passing Café Providence to the Noor Hellig. You can pass through the village of Rinkenæs on your way back.

Tip: Extend your trip with a ride on the bike ferry.
